PUBLIC
This guide explains how to display Company holidays on your Workspace dashboard using the built-in Calendar app and the Upcoming Events widget.
There are two parts:
- Part A – Admin setup: Create and share the “Company Holidays” calendar.
- Part B – User setup: Add holidays to the Dashboard.
Part A – Admin Setup: Create and Share the “Company Holidays” Calendar
1. Create the “Company Holidays” calendar
- Open the Calendar app.
- Look for an option like “+ New calendar” or a “+” icon in the calendar list.
-
Create a new calendar with a clear name, for example:
- Company Holidays
- Choose a color if you want to make it stand out from other calendars.
- Save the new calendar.
2. Add your Company holidays
For each Company holiday:
- In the Company Holidays calendar, click the holiday date.
-
Create a new event:
- Title: i.e., New Year’s Day (Paid Holiday)
- All day: Turn this on.
- Calendar: Make sure it’s set to Company Holidays.
- (Optional) Set Availability to Busy.
- Save the event.
- Repeat for all paid holidays for the year.
3. Share the calendar with employees
- Still in the Calendar app, find the Company Holidays calendar in the left sidebar.
- Click the Share icon (usually a share symbol next to the calendar name).
-
Share it with:
-
A group (i.e., Internal-Employees)
or - Specific user accounts, if you prefer per‑user sharing.
-
A group (i.e., Internal-Employees)
-
Set permissions to:
- Can edit: Off
-
Can share: Off
(You generally want this calendar read‑only for everyone except HR/admins.)
Part B – User Setup: Show Holidays on the Dashboard
These steps are for each employee to see the holidays on their own Dashboard.
1. Open the Dashboard
- Log in to Workspace.
- Click on the Dashboard app from the left‑hand menu.
2. Add the “Upcoming events” widget
-
On the Dashboard page, look for:
- A “Customize” button or
- A “+ Add widget” / “Add to your dashboard” option.
-
From the list of widgets, add:
- “Upcoming events” (or Calendar / Events, depending on version).
- The widget should now appear on the Dashboard.
3. Make sure the holiday calendar is included
- In the Upcoming Events widget, look for the settings icon (a gear, three dots, or similar symbol).
- Open the widget settings.
- Ensure that Company Holidays is selected or checked among the calendars shown.
- Save or close the settings.
Users should now see upcoming paid holidays directly on their Dashboard, for example:
Next events
• New Year’s Day (Paid Holiday) – Jan 1
• Memorial Day (Paid Holiday) – May 26
Troubleshooting
-
Users don’t see the Company Holidays calendar at all
- Check that the calendar is shared with the right group/users.
- Ask the user to open the Calendar and confirm that the calendar is visible and not hidden (the checkbox is checked).
-
Users see holidays in Calendar but not on Dashboard
- Confirm that the Upcoming Events widget is added to the Dashboard.
- Open the widget settings and ensure that "Company Holidays" is selected.
-
Holidays too far in the future are not shown
- The Upcoming Events widget typically displays events in the near future (for example, the next few days or weeks).
